The Bible places more emphasis on Jesus’s baptism and entrance into his ministry than on his birth. This date is fixed firmly by eight historical crosshairs in Luke 3:1–2, which name eight historical persons who are known to have lived at that time (Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate, Herod, Philip, Lysanias, Annas, Caiaphas, and John the Baptist). Indeed it says specifically that it was in “the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,” which is known to be AD 29.
